Ping G20 Driver of Broad Appeal Review
The Ping G20 Driver will aesthetically appeal to players who prefer a more traditional look. This driver is mainly designed for higher handicappers, but the fact that a number of high-profile Tour stars have already put it in the bag shows the broad appeal of the product. A maximum forgiveness driver that delivers distance and accuracy. Its 460cc titanium head is longer front to back and features PING's patented ultra thin crown technology. Weight savings from the thin crown are positioned as an external sole weight to optimize the center of gravity of the Ping G20 Driver for higher trajectories and reduced spin.
The G20 driver has a heavier head than G15 (7 grams more than standard) for greater force at impact. Additional backweighting and a more elongated face shore up misses. Distance is generated with a new version of PING's proprietary TFC 169D High-Balance-Point shaft technology, which allows the golfer to swing a heavier clubhead at the same speed with a high MOI. (The shaft is also available in a lower-trajectory Tour version). The clubface on the 460cc head of the Ping G20 Driver is larger, creating more forgiveness across the hitting area. The G20's head rotation is neutral, allowing the golfer to deliver the clubface straight at impact.
Ball speed and provide consistency across the entire hitting surface. The new PING-designed TFC 149D high balance point shaft allows for a five gram increase in head mass (without increasing swingweight or overall weight) which results in higher ball speeds and an increased moment of inertia.
